From the UMW
Thank you to everyone that helped, contributed deserts and of course came to the turkey pie dinner after church September 14th. We had a profit of $362.00. This fundraiser will help pay the end-of- year bills.
I made turkey pies and stuffing again. to feed the Dismas Housemen with the help of Robin and Barbara. Robin made the salad, and Barbara made her famous whoopie pies. All went well!
Linda and Bob will be doing the Dismas house in October and Janice and Carol will be doing November. If you want to take a month or help with a month, please let me know. This is a great mission project to help the men get back on their feet.
A big thank you to Vickie Copp who donated 5 turkey breasts to us. One was used for our Sunday dinner along with a full turkey, one was used for the Dismas house and the other 3 and a whole turkey will be used to make turkey pies for the Mustard Seed in December!!!
Don’t forget the annual church fair that is coming up Saturday November 8th from 9:00am to 4:00pm. We will be having a bake sale, something new will be a silent auction (we need your help getting donations rom local business to auction), homemade can goods, Liberian ladies’ food sale, and a hot dog lunch. We will need lots of help to help at the tables and of course to come and purchase lots of our goodies. Remember the UMW also helps with the year-end expenses.
Challenge extend to the UMM to comes up with a way to raise money, to help at the fair, and to help with the year end expenses.
The month of October we will have our annual stewardship Sundays, the last two Sundays of October and ending with pledge Sunday November2nd. This helps us to plan a budget for the next year. This is so very important for our church. Part of the charge conference report are questions on how many pledges we received on stewardship Sunday. The total amount in dollars the more we are pledged, the better we look.
Just a reminder!! We will be having a UMW meeting Wednesday, November 12th at church to fill the Operation Christmas Child boxes. We will start the meeting with a quick soup supper at 5:30 to give us the strength to fill the boxes. They must be brought to a church that collects them and sends them to the main operating center the week of November 17th. I will get them to the church in Worcester that has been collecting them for the last several years. They are so happy that we continue to do this every year. There is still plenty of time to do your shopping. There are lists in fellowship hall so you know what to buy. This is a fun night; we can use your help!!
The Children’s Day Noisy Offering collected $187.40 for the Education Fund.
I don’t know about you, but I think all the kid’s did a great job on Children’s Sunday, September 7th. Thank you to all the children, youth, little ones, young adults, and teachers. It was a wonderful service. I never knew what all those animals on the Ark were thinking before.
Thank you to the Tommys and Education Committee for a wonderful food and fellowship time. A special thank you to Barbara Hunt’s son, Steven for helping with our children and teacher gifts. His expertise and generosity are deeply appreciated.
